As I was trolling Craiglist - Lansing one night, per the usually week night internet trompsing, I stumbled across one posting that had me at "Rusty Horseshoe Antiques ***SALE*** (Grand Ledge)." Of course, every picture my jaw dropped and Matt's telling me "Easy over there" as I drool all over my phone screen. You know this stuff makes me week in the knees.
I notice at the bottom of the post "Check us out on Facebook to stay up to date on all the happenings." Well DUH, why wouldn't I? So, I do and I like her page, which then results in the taunting and teasing of items showing up on my news feed on the daily. Welllllll.... one day there's a post I can't resist. I fall in love and know these chairs will work perfectly for my dream dining room table that is yet to be.
So, what does a girl do? She sacrifices her red dinette table & some cash and welcomes 6 of these into her life. Timing was perfect. My sisters, mom, and I were heading out for an obvious never silent always loud with laughter fun day of manicures and Cuginos. So, we..well Matt & Mike (his dad).. loaded up my table into the burb. After Matt's reminder that he didn't want to see the table return (this is a whole other post) we were on our way.
They were even better in person. So, I bought them.
My plan is to someday have Matt build me a large wood farmhouse table. I'm slowly learning to bridge Matt & I's styles. It's a work in progress....my inspiration comes from this.
I highly recommend Rusty Horseshoe Antiques in Grand Ledge. It was my first time in there today, but it will not be my last.

A Taste of Summer
On the way home today Roo goes, "Mom. I just do not like snow storms. We need to get home and watch the news!!!" Me: "Haha, is that so?" "Yeah!! I just want to play in the green grass but now I can't because it is just too white!! I'm just a little too late!!" Me: "Yeah, I would say you are probably just a little too late..."
I know this cold weather and snow practically just started so, I won't complain. But what I will do is wish, dream, and think about summer. And I will continue to look out my kitchen window each and everyday and envision the green grass with a large deck. And if you give a mouse a cookie....... she'll want a large pool and most likely a few floatys in there, with a cup holder to hold her cold stiff drink.
That will obviously remind her that she never shared the back yard transformation from this past summer.....So, I searched through, not even joking, thousands of pictures to find these. All I can do is laugh when I look back and see the pictures of the yard before. The crazy man who lived here before had more than half of the yard covered in annoying pebble stone, landscape fabric, random bushes, and don't forget miles of recycled plastic that needs to outline every single thing and also provide a lovely pebble stone path to every part of your yard. I'll admit, I may have cursed that man I never knew once or twice while hand raking stones for hours but, now I just laugh. One more thing before the pics because I have to tell everyone this. Matt used almost 80 lbs of grass seed for our project because he was convinced it wasn't growing and washed away. We also laugh about that as we walk in and mow our soft luscious green grass every other day. ;)
It's obviously no large deck or large pool. That will come one day when Matt's not home and I decide just to do it ...... shhhhhhhh. ;) But we love what we have now and are pretty proud of the progress. We enjoy entertaining and late night porch sitting in the summer and can't wait for the future memories to be made out here.

Happy New Year
Remember last year when I gave that inspiring, motivating, & riveting post about new goals for the new year. ;) And then I promised you, "I'll let ya know next year how it turns out." Well, its been a year. It's been a wild, fun, and FAST year for the books and I am back to report, as promised.
I can happily say I was able to successfully cross off every goal I wrote down this time last year. It's a great feeling. Especially for a psycho, crazy, I have to, need to, have every. single. thing. planned. person like me. Seriously, I live off a list. And it drives me nuts when I can't cross everything off. It's probably a concerning condition. Sometimes I'll add something I did, that wasn't on the list, and then cross it off. It just feels so good!
So, as you can imagine, I was delighted to cross the last thing off my 2014 list the last month of the year. This past year I was able to:
1. Max out on exam opportunities at work
2. Get a raise
3. Have my car more than half way paid off in less than a year
4. Teach Ruthie to spell and write her name
5. Teach Ruthie her alphabet
6. Save 'said' amount of money
Simple and some slightly obvious goals however, extremely effective. I guarantee if I wouldn't have wrote any of these down last January, none of them would have even happened. But I did and they happened and I feel good.
So welcome 2015, welcome. I welcome you with large and in charge open arms with an XL side of positive "let's do this" attitude. Because I have a large list waiting for you and Matt's already rolling his eyes at me. :)
